Posted 10/03/2007 10:25:19 PM | | Welcome to the 2008 Farm Baseball Season.
My name is Steven Howe, I along with Jay Walsh, Frank Dominguez, and Dave Martin, will have the pleasure of working with your kids this year to improve their skills in baseball and prepare them for the next level.
We are very lucky to have handful of our kids back from last year. We are extremely lucky to have all of the coaches back from last years successful season, This will be our 3rd year coaching together with the Farm Red Sox.
I will give you all a practice schedule and uniforms on the 1st day of practice Tuesday March 25 at Shadow Mountain at 5:00pm.
Here are some of the team rules
1. I communicate via this web site. You must all register, so I can ensure everyone knows how to get to the site and use it.(private stuff take off line) my cell # is 287-5309
2. All parents are encouraged to help! If you understand what I am teaching at games and practice you can get your athlete more reps at home the 5 days a week we are not together. Bring your glove to practice the first day I will show you how it can be fun for Mom and son, Dad and son or Granpa and Son. What we teach is basic and easy to understand for everyone, even if you never played the game
3. We keep the book at every game and I send out a recap of the stats after the game (usually the same day)
Every kid will put the catchers gear 2 times in practice before they play catcher in the game, EVERY player will catch 3 innings this year
4. Every player will be at the games 30-45 minutes before games to take batting practice. We take BP before every game
the first 9 players to games start in the field
5. No player is allowed to have sunflower seeds in the dugouts (league rule)
6. When the Red Sox leave any field we pick up ALL garbage. You are not allowed to leave practice or games until all garbage is picked up. Fields will be in better shape when we leave than when we got there
7. Kids are required to where red sox
8. We are asking everyone to buy grey baseball pants (see below)
9. If you have your own special equipment (bats, Helmets, catchers gear) and you don’t want others to use it do not bring it in the dugout. Leave it with your parents until its your turn to use it, when done return it to your parents
10. Everyone that plays 1st base is required to where a helmet with a faceguard. This is our own team rule, and it works two fold 1: Kids that are playing first will be less afraid to stay in front of the ball. 2: Kids that are throwing to first will know that the 1st baseman is protected and will have no reservations about firing the ball over there.
11. If anyone has special needs (Physical, economic, personal) please see me privately and we will work to make this a very positive experience for all
