I really mean that too! Our kids went out and did what they did all year: they played hard at whatever position they were put in. No matter what the odds the Red Sox just keep on battling (parents should be very proud of your boys - and make sure you tell them tonight/today)
Chief Crazy Horse said before the battle at Little Big Horn, "They may have won the battle but they have not won the war!"
That's the way I feel after tonight's game. The myopic approach would be to take your 5 oldest players and stick them in the infield the entire game....but they are 6,7, and 8 years old and there are bigger things to worry about, like making sure every kid gets an opportunity to play and love this game.
Our boys put the bat on the ball exceptionally well tonight. We only had 4 strikeouts in 4 innings!!!!! GREAT!!!!!!Those 5 Orioles played some great "D" but guess what??? They couldn't outshine the "Gritty" Red Sox. Every inning the Orioles played good "D" the Red Sox would come out and Say "US TOO!" Some great Defensive stands: Ian Higgins almost single-handedly wiped them out in the 3rd, and Tanner did the same in the 4th. Chase, Trevor, Dylan, Scott, Colton D, Charles also recorded defensive outs.
Game Balls went to:
Ian Higgins 1-2 (GREAT Defense); Trevor Higgins (2-2 2 RBI) and Dawson Martin (2-2 2 Runs; Home Run; 1 RBI)
Scott 1-2 1 Run
Chase 1-2 1 Run
Colton D 1-2
Charles 1-2
Benjamin 1-2
Nicholas 1-2 1 Run
Dawson 2-2 2 Runs Home Run RBI
Trevor 2-2 Double 2 RBI
Ian 1-2 GREAT "D"
Weldon 0-2
Brayden 0-2
Tanner 0-2
Dylan 0-1
Final Score
Orioles 6
Red Sox 5
Season Record:
.7857 Winning Percentage!!!!!! WOW! Thats Hall of Fame in most leagues!
11 Wins
3 Losses and most important: 14 WINNERS!!!!!!!!!
